Writing in a diary is a really strange experience for someone like me. Not only because I’ve never written anything before, but also because it seems to me that later on neither I nor anyone else will be interested in the musings of a thirteen-year old school girl. Oh well, it doesn’t matter. I feel like writing.
I know what I want, I have a goal, an opinion, I have a religion and love. Let me be myself and then I am satisfied. I know that I’m a woman, a woman with inward strength and plenty of courage.
It’s difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It’s a wonder I haven’t abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
This was a book that I confess: I have read it more than once in different times of my life. Also, I totally recommend to anyone. It is powerful and emotional and at the same time so innocent.
The Diary of Anne Frank doesn't need any presentations. However... here it goes what I think.

1. Anne Frank
A young girl who is fighting for her and the whole family survival during the second world war. She is only 13 years old and started writing her diary to talk about her feelings and describing what is going on with her life.
2. The occupants of the secret annexe
The rest of the family trying to survive the war. Anne talks about them a lot and we can easily picture how their lives were in this difficult years.
The Plot
This is a REAL, non-fiction, historic life book. It is a description of what really happened so there is not actually any plot. The description is about her life, feelings, emotions, fears and simply daily life things of a 13 years old. It is amazing how the war transformed one person but at the same, she can maintain the innocence of the age.
Where the action takes place
It takes place in a secret annexe in Amsterdam where the whole family is hidden.
How is it written
The language is very accessible and she writes beautifully. We can totally picture what is happening like if we were there.

The whole description and how innocent she was.

Well... the war itself.

In conclusion
For someone who is interested in the WWII history or likes to read diaries or memories, this is a powerful book that makes us think of what humankind is capable of doing. At the same time, this girl's innocent writing amazes me and makes me wonder how can they keep sane and keep doing normal daily stuff.
As an extra, I recommend to those who like the subject, to go once in your life to Poland (Auschwitz) to see how the concentration camps were and Amsterdam to visit the Annexe.
